The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women is committed to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of violence, including sexual harassment, exploitation, and any form of misconduct. On October 21, the Coalition convened an urgent Board meeting to address allegations of sexual assault and violence involving one of our members. While the victims have chosen not to press charges, we believe it is our duty to act responsibly and transparently to prevent any further incidents and reaffirm our stance of zero tolerance for violence.
Guided by the principle of “do no harm” and respecting the victims’ right to confidentiality, we will not disclose the identities of the individuals involved.
In response to the information received, the Coalition has taken the following actions:
- The individual in question has been removed from the list of Coalition members.
- The Coalition has informed all partners and relevant human rights organizations of this decision and its reasoning, urging them to maintain confidentiality while the internal redress mechanism is in progress.
We would like to emphasize once again that our Code of Conduct requires all members, staff, and volunteers to uphold the highest ethical standards and act in full alignment with the Coalition’s values and principles.
