The “16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence” made a start with the walking tour named “Don’t be indifferent to violence” on November 25th, at 12:30 PM. The tour launched from the yard of National Polytechnic University (105 Teryan Street) and moved to Aleq Manoukian and Khanjian streets ending by Armenian State Pedagogical University.

According to our research, the gender-based stereotypes not only hinder women and girls from decision making in political, economic and a number of other important spheres, but also lead to gender-based or domestic violence. The educational system is not an exception either. Very often education becomes unavailable, recreating the same stereotypes. As the institutions of higher education are somehow responsible for shaping socially active citizens, this year we are prone to organize events for the youth.

“The 16-day campaign against gender-based violence” is a global movement that calls for the elimination of all forms of violence against women. People get the opportunity to unite their efforts against gender-based violence during the events organized from November 25th  to December 10th. The campaign is getting new breath year after year and much more people become the voice in the struggle against women violence. The campaign aims to reduce the violence against women and girls all over the world, to call for women rights and make their voice be heard. The 16-day campaign against gender-based violence commences on November 25th which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and ends on the 10th of December which is the International Human Rights Day.
