Last week, members of the Coalition to Stop Violence against Women participated in the online workshop on monitoring of the concluding observations of the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women to Armenia and advocacy for their implementation by the state. The purpose of the two-day workshop was to develop the capacity of Coalition member organizations to monitor the recommendations from UN monitoring bodies on women’s rights and advocate with the state for their proper implementation.
The workshop was conducted by the International Women’s Rights Action Watch Asia Pacific (IWRAW Asia Pacific) experts. For nearly 20 years, the organization has supported organizations to advocate on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, acting as an intermediary between the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and organizations.
As a result of the meeting, the members of the Coalition developed a strategy on how to advocate on the implementation of concluding observations by the state more effectively.
The workshop has been conducted in the frame of “Transforming the Domestic Violence Agenda in Armenia” project implemented by the Coalition to Stop Violence against Women and its member organizations, financed by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.
