Coalition to stop violence against women, in collaboration with “Human Rights Power” NGO has launched a comprehensive court monitoring project on domestic violence cases.
In the frames of the court monitoring project, in the course of 2021-2022, domestic violence trial cases will be examined, and in-depth interviews will be conducted with the survivors, their legal successors and survivors’ attorneys.
The newly developed monitoring toolkit is gender sensitive and is developed through methods that track the level of domestic violence law implementation. Special questionnaires are developed for each group of in-depth interviews.
During the monitoring, special attention is paid to questions, views, remarks, and insults expressed by one of the parties during the court hearing which are discriminatory, and are based on stereotypes and prejudices. The possible impact of such approaches on the court hearing process and on the survivors of domestic violence is thoroughly examined.
At the end of the project, a court monitoring report on domestic violence cases will be prepared, targeting key stakeholders. The issued recommendations will contribute to overcoming the challenges and improving the sector.
